County seeks volunteers for Project Wildfire Steering Committee

Deschutes County is accepting applications for the Project Wildfire Steering Committee, which coordinates, develops and implements strategies to mitigate the effects of losses due to natural disasters that strike Deschutes County.

Project Wildfire is governed by a diverse volunteer Steering Committee of up to 27 members with specified representation. It is comprised of local, state and federal government agencies, higher education institutions, as well as private sector members representing business, marketing, private forestry, homeowners associations, insurance, the environmental community, and citizens at large.

Project Wildfire’s Steering Committee meets at 8 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Deschutes Services Building in downtown Bend. Steering committee members are not paid for their time.
