Phil came to Deschutes County in 2004 looking for a great place to raise a family, to continue his career in natural resource management, and to enjoy the great outdoors. His connection to the community grew deeper as he helped to bring people together to steward our forests, represented our community to Washington DC as a Congressional staffer, and raised a son here.

Phil has served on the Boards of Bend 2030, the Deschutes Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and the River West Neighborhood Association. He enjoys volunteering for trail maintenance and river stewardship projects with a variety of local non-profits. He holds a B.A. from Columbia University and a M.S. from U.C. Berkeley.
