County announces appointments for Solid Waste Advisory Committee

The Deschutes County Board of Commissioners has appointed 12 individuals to the Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC).

The group will provide input as the County develops a strategic plan to evaluate the economic and environmental impacts of different disposal options and will examine other aspects of the solid waste system, such as collection, recycling and transfer. The SWAC will also evaluate how Deschutes County should process solid waste after Knott Landfill reaches capacity.

Appointees include:

  • Brad Baily, Bend Garbage & Recycling
  • Brant Kucera, City Manager, City of Sisters
  • Catherine Morrow, Citizen member
  • Erwin Swetnam, Cascade Disposal
  • Gillian Ochner, Administrative Specialist, City of Bend
  • Jake Obrist, Public Works Manager, City of La Pine
  • Jared Black, Citizen member
  • Jerry Andres, Citizen member
  • Mike Riley, The Environmental Center
  • Rick Williams, Central Oregon Truck Company
  • Smith Reese, Citizen member
