News Release - Explanatory Statement for March Ballot Modified

On Thursday, County Clerk Nancy Blankenship held a hearing in response to a petition that challenged the explanatory statement for the City of Bend’s Measure 9-105.

Prior to the hearing, the petitioner, Jeffrey T. Eager, and the City of Bend came to an agreement on how to rephrase the sentence in question.

The explanatory statement will be revised to reflect the following changes:

Delete the sentence, “Over 20 cities in Oregon have adopted a motor vehicle fuel tax.”
Insert the following sentence, “Presently, 24 cities in Oregon have adopted a motor vehicle fuel tax.”

During the hearing, Blankenship accepted the proposed modification to the explanatory statement.
