Last Day to Mail Ballots: Tuesday, October 30

Tuesday, Oct. 30, is the last day for Deschutes County voters to safely mail their ballot for the Nov. 6 General Election. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Ballots that are not mailed by Tuesday, Oct. 30, should be delivered to an official ballot drop site. A full list of drop site locations is available online at bit.ly/DeschutesCoDropSites. More drop sites locations will open on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Election Night Event - Results

Candidates, districts, PACs and the public are welcome to attend the Election night results event. County Clerk Nancy Blankenship will announce initial election results and provide updates throughout the evening. Doors open at 7:30 pm.

Upcoming Deadlines for the November General Election

Tuesday, October 16
The Deschutes County Clerk reminds voters that Tuesday, October 16 is the voter registration deadline for the November 6 General Election. Eligible voters have until 11:59 p.m. to register to vote online (www.oregonvotes.gov/register) and Voter Registration Cards must have a USPS postmark of October 16.

Wednesday, October 17
Ballots for the November 6 General Election will be mailed to voters October 17.

Deschutes County Clerk Nancy Blankenship is reminding prospective candidates of the following upcoming election deadlines:

Tuesday, August 28:  Last day for a candidate to file  

Thursday, August 30:  Last day for county candidates to file a statement for inclusion in Deschutes County Voters’ Pamphlet

Monday, September 10: Last day for candidates who file with a governing body other than the county clerk (such as a city) to file a statement for inclusion in Deschutes County Voters’ Pamphlet

Final Recount Results for 53rd House District Republican primary

The Deschutes County Clerk’s Office has completed a hand recount of the 53rd House District Republican primary and determined that Jack Zika has 3,771 votes and Ben Schimmoller has 3,769 votes.

Coming into the recount, just two votes separated Zika (3,771) and Schimmoller (3,769).

Upcoming Deadlines for May Primary Election

► Tuesday, April 24

The Deschutes County Clerk reminds voters that Tuesday, April 24 is the voter registration deadline for the May 15 Primary Election. Eligible voters have until 11:59 p.m. to register to vote online and Voter Registration Cards must have a USPS postmark of April 24.

Independent Party of Oregon Opens Party Primary

The Independent Party of Oregon has chosen to allow voters who are not members of any party to vote in the Independent Party Primary on May 15. To request a primary election ballot for the Independent Party no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24.

The request form is available online at https://www.deschutes.org/clerk/page/may-15-2018-primary-election. This will not change your voter registration.

Passport Fees to increase on April 2

Starting April 2, the passport execution/processing fee will increase from $25 to $35. The $10 fee increase is mandated by the Department of State.

The new fee only applies to people who are:

●             applying for a passport for the first time

●             renewing a passport that was originally issued when the individual was under the age of 16

●             renewing a passport that was issued more than 15 years ago

●             replacing a lost or stolen passport
