May 21: Special Election

Initial election results will be posted shortly after 8 p.m. at www.deschutes.org/electionresults. Results will be updated throughout the evening. 

Remember, you can drop off your ballot at an official drop site location until 8 p.m. 

Last day to mail ballots: Tuesday, May 14

Tuesday, May 14, is the last day for Deschutes County voters to safely mail their ballot for the May 21 Special Election. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21.

Ballots that are not mailed by May 14 should be delivered to an official ballot drop site.

Oregon voters can drop their ballot at any official county drop site in Oregon and their ballot will be forwarded to their county election’s office. As a reminder, postmarks do not count.

Passport Application / Renewal Info

Clerk’s Office staff is seeing a jump in passport applications – a 35% increase from this time last year. Staff processed 524 passport applications in January and February!

Clerk's Office announces May Special Election deadlines

The Deschutes County Clerk's office wanted to share the following upcoming deadlines for the May Special Election:

Candidates:

  • Thursday, March 21 - Last day for a candidate to file
  • Monday, March 25 - Last day for candidates to file statements for inclusion in the Deschutes County Voters’ Pamphlet

Measure Arguments:

Board of Property Tax Appeals hearings for Feb. 26 rescheduled

All hearings scheduled before the Deschutes County Board of Property Tax Appeals for Tuesday, Feb. 26th, have been rescheduled due to weather. Hearings will be conducted on Tuesday, March 5.

Newly-elected Deschutes County officials to be sworn in on Jan. 7

Newly-elected Deschutes County officials will be sworn in to office at 8:30 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 7 in Courtroom C of the Deschutes County Circuit Courthouse, located at 1100 NW Bond St., in Bend.

Six elected officeholders are scheduled to attend the formal ceremony and publicly take the oath of office, which will be administered by the Honorable Wells Ashby, Presiding Judge for the Deschutes County Circuit Court.

Last Day to Mail Ballots: Tuesday, October 30

Tuesday, Oct. 30, is the last day for Deschutes County voters to safely mail their ballot for the Nov. 6 General Election. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Ballots that are not mailed by Tuesday, Oct. 30, should be delivered to an official ballot drop site. A full list of drop site locations is available online at bit.ly/DeschutesCoDropSites. More drop sites locations will open on Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Election Night Event - Results

Candidates, districts, PACs and the public are welcome to attend the Election night results event. County Clerk Nancy Blankenship will announce initial election results and provide updates throughout the evening. Doors open at 7:30 pm.

Upcoming Deadlines for the November General Election

Tuesday, October 16
The Deschutes County Clerk reminds voters that Tuesday, October 16 is the voter registration deadline for the November 6 General Election. Eligible voters have until 11:59 p.m. to register to vote online (www.oregonvotes.gov/register) and Voter Registration Cards must have a USPS postmark of October 16.

Wednesday, October 17
Ballots for the November 6 General Election will be mailed to voters October 17.
