Last Day to Mail Ballots: Tuesday, January 16

Tuesday, Jan. 16, is the last day recommended by the United States Postal Services to mail ballots back for the January election. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23.

Ballots that are not mailed by Tuesday, Jan. 16, should be delivered to an official ballot drop site. A full list of drop site locations is available online at www.deschutes.org/clerk. More drop sites locations will open on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

2018 Art Contest: Voting Shapes the Future 

Deschutes County Clerk Nancy Blankenship invites students in grades 5-8 to participate in the Clerk's Office biennial election art contest. Winners will have their artwork featured in the 2018 Voters' Pamphlets, which are distributed to more than 65,000 households in Deschutes County. This year's theme, "Voting Shapes the Future," is intended to get students thinking about how the simple act of voting will shape the future world they live in.

Traveling? Request an Absentee Ballot for the January Special Election

Snow birds, college students, and travelers, this message is for you:

Our Special Election is January 23, 2018. 

If you are going to be away during the election but would still like to vote, you can request an absentee ballot. Simply provide the first and last days you plan to receive mail at this address, and we will send your ballot to this address between those dates. The post office will not forward your ballot from your home address, so it is important we have the address where you'll be during the election.

Tuesday, May 9, is the last day recommended by the United States Postal Services to mail ballots back for the May Election. Ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16.

May 16, 2017 Special Election Deadlines:

►  Last day to register to vote: Tuesday, April 25

►  Register to vote online HERE. An Oregon DMV license or identification number is required.

►  Voters can check if they are registered or update their registration online HERE.

Water Rights

Deschutes County Clerk's Office is holder of several records regarding water rights in Central Oregon.  Among these records is an early 1900's Deschutes County Circuit Court case and court's opinion involving the determination of the relative water rights to use waters of the Deschutes River and its tributaries.  Also, the Clerk's Office has online  Water Certificates and an index to locate those certificates.
