Ballots to mail on Wednesday for May 2022 Primary Election

On Wednesday, more than 153,000 ballots for the May 2022 Primary Election will be mailed to registered voters in Deschutes County.

County Clerk Steve Dennison encourages voters to vote early and take advantage of pre-paid postage for ballots.

If voters do not receive their ballot by Wednesday, May 4, they are encouraged to call the Deschutes County Elections at (541) 388-6547.

Less than month left to register to vote or update party affiliation

Deschutes County voters have until Tuesday, April 26, to register to vote in advance of the upcoming May 17 Primary Election.

Deschutes County Clerk finalizes new precinct lines

In coordination with Oregon’s redistricting process, Deschutes County finalized new precinct lines on Feb. 18. Many Deschutes County residents will see new congressional and legislative districts on their ballots in the May 17 Primary Election.

Registered voters in Deschutes County who are impacted by the precinct changes will receive a Voter Notification Card containing current district information. Notification cards will be mailed on March 16.

Deschutes County Commissioners appoint Steve Dennison as interim County Clerk

The Deschutes County Commissioners have appointed Steve Dennison as interim County Clerk, effective July 31.

Dennison, who has served as Deschutes County’s Election Supervisor since 2017, will complete the remainder of County Clerk Nancy Blankenship’s term, which ends in 2022. Blankenship announced her retirement earlier this spring and recommended Dennison’s appointment to the Board of Commissioners.

Deschutes County Clerk Nancy Blankenship announces retirement

After nearly 20 years of serving as Deschutes County Clerk, Nancy Blankenship has announced that she will retire at the end of July.

 “I’m at a point in life where I’m ready to spend time with family and friends,” Blankenship said. “It’s time to start working on the bucket list I’ve been accumulating over the years.” 

Blankenship, who oversees both elections and recording, was appointed as Deschutes County’s Clerk in 2003 and has be re-elected four times. She previously served as the City of Redmond’s recorder for 15 years.
