Road work begins on SW Canal Blvd

Project Aerial

The Deschutes County Road Department has commenced construction on a project to improve safety at SW Canal Boulevard and SW Helmholtz Way near Redmond. Crews will construct a left-turn lane for northbound SW Canal Boulevard at the intersection, and will also add lighting, striping, and signage improvements. The $797,000 project will be constructed by the County’s contractor, High Desert Aggregate and Paving, Inc. The project is anticipated to be finished by June.

Road users should use caution and expect single lane closures and delays in the area during project construction. SW Helmholtz Way will be temporarily closed at the intersection beginning Wednesday, March 18, for three weeks. More information about these closures will be released before the closures occur, and detour routes will be provided. Please visit www.deschutes.org/news or TripCheck.com for current project traffic information.

For more project information, please contact Cody Smith, County Engineer for the Deschutes County Road Department, at (541) 322-7113.
