Ward Road and local streets paving project begins Sept. 9
Starting Monday, Sept. 9, Ward Road will be closed between U.S. Highway 20 and Bear Creek Road for five days as the Deschutes County Road Department begins work on a paving and reconstruction project. Drivers can expect intermittent delays of up to 20 minutes on Bear Creek Road at the intersection of Ward Road.
The $697,000 project will include reconstructing and paving Ward Road between Highway 20 and Stevens Road and paving several local adjacent streets, including Bronco Lane, Filly Court, Stud Court, Old Red Road, Mare Court, Dobbin Court, and Dobbin Road. Work will be completed by the County’s contractor, 7 Peaks Paving of Bend.
The first and second stages of the project will include paving of the local streets and reconstructing Ward Road between Highway 20 and Bear Creek Road.
The third stage of the project will include reconstructing the southern portion of Ward Road between Bear Creek Road and Stevens Road. During this stage of the project, Ward Road will be closed from Bear Creek Road to Stevens Road from Sept. 16 to Sept. 27. Access will be maintained for local traffic only on Ward Road.
The local streets paving schedule for this project is:
- Tuesday, Oct. 1 – Bronco Lane, Philly Court, Stud Court
- Wednesday, Oct. 2 – Old Red Road
- Thursday, Oct. 3 – Mare Court, Dobbin Court, Dobbin Road
- Friday, Oct. 4 – Dobbin Road
During the project, road users on Ward Road, Bear Creek Road and the local streets should anticipate delays and are encouraged to use caution, observe traffic control devices, and slow down when traveling through the work zone and detour routes. Detour routes will be clearly marked.
The project is anticipated to be completed by Oct. 11.
