Recently, Deschutes County and contracted partners has undertaken the development of a Stabilization Center Project. In this collaborative effort between Deschutes County Health Services and Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office in the development of a twenty-four (24) hour, seven (7) day a week Crisis Stabilization Center with a twenty-three (23) hour Respite and Sober Station. The goal of this project is to reduce the number of individuals with Serious Mental Illness who end up in the criminal justice system; reduce the number of individuals going to the Emergency Department for mental health crisis; assist individuals experiencing a mental health crisis stabilize in their community and become connected to resources so they engage in mental health treatment and regain a better quality of life; and to provide a place for Law Enforcement to quickly bring someone in a mental health crisis.
