Substance Misuse Prevention

People

The Substance Misuse Prevention Program is designed to prevent and reduce substance misuse, as well as related behaviors such as  bullying, suicide, and problem gambling. Focused primarily on young people ages 10 through 25, the program addresses the environments in which this population lives, works, studies, and plays. Community Health Strategists on the Substance Misuse Prevention team apply the Strategic Prevention Framework to ensure that programs and strategies produce results. Rather than providing direct services to youth, Community Health Strategists work with diverse community partners to strengthen organizational and community-level systems and norms that impact youth behavior.
