Deschutes County Rural Housing Profile

Housing is consistently identified by Deschutes County residents as an issue of concern. What does this actually mean, however? Is it the cost, availability, quality, location, or some combination of these factors? 

The Board of County Commissioners has continually expressed interest in examining housing issues in Deschutes County. Staff created the first Rural Housing Profile document in 2020, and revisited the report in 2024. The Board has directed staff to regularly update this profile to continue to provide background on the factors surrounding housing, including demographics, market data, vacant lands analysis, and regulatory opportunities and constraints.
