Public invited to comment on proposed Community Development work plan
The public is invited to comment on the Deschutes County Community Development Department’s proposed work plan for 2019-20 at upcoming Deschutes County Planning Commission open houses.
Open houses will be held:
- Thursday, April 11, 5:30 p.m.
La Pine Senior Center, 16450 Victory Way, La Pine
- Thursday, April 18, 5:30 p.m.
Deschutes Services Center, 1300 NW Wall Street, Bend
- Thursday, April 25, 6 p.m.
Sisters City Hall, 520 E Cascade Ave, Sisters
The draft work plan outlines the department’s anticipated projects and goals for the coming year including:
- Maintaining fast turnaround times for processing permit applications
- Supporting opportunities to provide affordable housing
- Considering amendments to Deschutes County Code to update regulations pertaining to churches, floodplains, signs, wildfire mitigation, outdoor mass gatherings, and marijuana production
- Coordinating with the cities of Bend and Redmond to expand urban growth boundaries to provide new affordable neighborhoods
- Implementing a potential new state law to allow accessory dwelling units on rural residential lands
- Participating in processes to update County transportation plans
